Max Onink (b. 1998, The Netherlands)
Max is an autonomous artist working with sculpture and installation. His works exist on the tipping point between certainty and the absurd. Beginning from familiar situations, they introduce subtle disruptions that make everyday reality slowly unravel. A camping kitchen with a head melting in the pot, or a dead duck that seems to have flown into a sink, smashing it to pieces.
Through these shifts, Onink explores vulnerability, discomfort and the fragile logic of ordinary life. Rather than offering explanations, his work allows doubt to emerge from what first appears familiar.
Alongside his autonomous practice, Max co-founded STUDIO MAX & ELLE with artist Elle van Baaren. While both maintain independent artistic practices, the initiative serves as a platform for exhibitions, workshops and collaborative projects.
